About Us

How we got started

Sarah’s (eternal) love of the vampire slayer was the beginning of her fandom obsession. It would grow to include a galaxy far far away, the final frontier, 13 doctors, 2 hunter brothers, the boy who lived, an assembling team, a mocking jay, and the list just goes on and on.

Once she discovered the pumpkin spice latte her inner Basic Nerd emerged. And Clever Girl Apparel was born. A small biz in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Run by a basic nerd who is trying to fight stereotypes, the patriarchy, and raise the next generation to be not terrible.

We are passionate about all things nerdy, basic, and feminist, and we don't think we’re alone in that. Why do we have to be just one thing? We can be and love all the things!!! (Like a rose gold lightsaber? anyone...?) We love to show love for our fandoms (of which there are many) while staying true to our style. We wanted something cute, something you could just throw on for dates, brunch, school runs, or comic cons, something cute that said "Hi, I'm a nerd, are you? wanna be best friends?"
